L�abstrait de Sophie DUMONT n�est pas un concept, il est une démarche o� chaque toile se construit autour d�un graphisme mis en perspectives par la couleur.
Le dessin peut rappeler le modelé d�un corps ou les méandres d�un paysage. Il n�est que l�interprétation non préméditée d�une idée figurative, qui prend d�autres formes dans l�espace.
La toile se structure autour d�un jeu de courbes et de lignes filtrant les lumières.
C�est dans cette construction épurée qu�entre en scène la palette de tonalités souvent vives. Mais la substance n�est jamais brute, puisant dans sa maturation des effets lyriques qui sont le résultat d�un travail fécond de la matière. Le couteau fa�onne le matériau en couches successives qui fusionnent dans une combinaison de couleurs chatoyantes.
La présence sous-jacente des différents substrats crée cette vibration née du contraste entre matière et couleur, pour donner à la représentation une vie qui lui est propre, indépendante de toute référence. Le regard du spectateur, loin d��tre guidé, est invité à voyager librement dans la toile. Sa perception n�est que l�expression de ses propres émotions, soumises simplement à l�effet des modulations transcrites par l�artiste. D�o� cette relation permanente entre des �uvres aux apparences et à l�esprit parfois changeants, mais qui symbolisent une démarche cohérente et sincère.
